What's on your mind?

They say the world is your oyster. Its also said that the Internet is your window to the world. But taking a look into my Facebook feeds today makes me think that the world is full of emotional, erratic and sometimes crazy people.
What has driven me to say this? Random emotional posts strewn across my feeds. We all love to tell the world how happy we are today or what a bad day its been or we're so happy to get an unexpected gift. That's all fine and well to say a short simple message on how we feel or what's on our mind. We all do it and its all fine and good, but what bothers me is when people make Facebook comments that are specifically directed at an individual in their life - which might not be on their own friends list at all even. Statements like, " for the longest time you have been talking behind my back, why not say it to my face. You (expletive) .... " . If someone has really pissed you off and it is affecting you, why not tell it straight to their face? Or pick up the phone and tell them straight? Why make a specific comment that is so blatantly directed at one sole individual but broadcast it to the whole world? I understand that these individuals are are going through some emotional roller coaster and just need to vent off some steam. Or are merely looking for attention but really, would it take so big an effort to be human and interact directly on the issue at hand?
As we have embraced the web through social media and the ability of free speech it embodies, more and more of us have found the convenience of hiding behind the veil of the internet to spew what ever it is that is on our minds regardless of how it defines our online persona. Today I can have the ability to say something about you which I would not have the courage to say in real life all behind the comforts of my desk (or bed for some of us).
The online persona for some can be a stark contras of who we really are. And this ability to hide behind this anonymous guise has given birth to insane Facebook ramblings. Facebook is like a giant room where all your friends have gathered. Someone might want to shout out, "Hey!! I love this song" and it might seem alright. But could you imagine what it would look like of someone inexplicably started to go into a rage and ranted to themselves? I'm sure it heads would turn and brows raised and we'd all be thinking this person might not have all their marbles accounted for. So why is this suddenly OK on the Internet ? Free speech? You could say that. But do you really want to share your sorrows to all of your friends or acquittance's on the Internet?
We have become so accustomed with the freedom of the Internet that we are more then willing to bare everything to all to see. Wonder if it is the same outside of these walls and we are just as open in real life?
We strive to to protect our privacy in real life t but in a moment of pure emotion we let the world to see the ugly and true side of us that we have spent a lifetime to hide.
Now I'm off to post on my Facebook how wonderful my mundane dinner was.

Cheers
